JEMPOL, Negeri Sembilan, July 25, 2026 (The Capital Post) โ Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, conducted an official working visit to Jempol, Negeri Sembilan on Friday to review key water supply and wastewater infrastructure projects aimed at improving public services and environmental sustainability.
The visit began with an inspection of the Batu Kikir Water Tank Construction Project (N048 โ Package 5), implemented by Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB). Valued at RM17.6 million, the project commenced on Nov 13, 2023, was completed on Dec 10, 2025, and has since been handed over to Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan (SAINS) for operational management.
The project includes the construction of a 4.5-million-litre elevated water reservoir, installation of 2.5km of 400mm mild steel cement-lined (MSCL) inlet pipelines, 1.5km of 450mm MSCL outlet pipelines, slope stabilisation works, as well as mechanical and electrical systems.
The reservoir is designed to provide up to two days of water storage during emergency disruptions or periods of increased demand, such as festive seasons, benefiting approximately 2,800 consumer accounts across 13 residential areas in and around Batu Kikir.
The delegation later visited the proposed site for the Bahau Public Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade Project (NJL-011), which will be implemented by Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) at a cost of RM6.8 million under funding from the Sewerage Capital Contribution Fund (KWSMP) managed by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).
The project will replace the existing oxidation pond system with a new Extended Aeration mechanical treatment facility. During the visit, Abdul Rahman officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the project, which is scheduled to begin on July 29, 2026, with an estimated completion period of 18 months.

Upon completion, the upgraded facility is expected to ensure treated wastewater complies with the Environmental Quality (Sewage) Regulations before being discharged into the upper Muar River catchment area.
The Deputy Minister also attended an engagement session with staff from PETRA and its agencies serving the Jempol region at the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Bahau office. The session was attended by representatives from TNB, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), SPAN, PAAB and the Energy Commission.
The working visit concluded with a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme at Masjid Al-Hidayah in Pekan Rompin, Jempol, featuring community contributions by TNB, water-efficient tap replacements by SPAN, and septic tank emptying services provided by IWK.
Also present throughout the visit were PETRA Senior Undersecretary (Management) Datuk Mohd Norhisham Musa, SPAN Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ahmad Faizal Abdul Rahman, and senior officials from PETRA, DID, SPAN, TNB, PAAB and IWK.
