Strategic research strengthens Malaysia’s national security policies

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Malaysian Institute of Public Security (IPSOM), Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), continues to strengthen the role of strategic research as a foundation for developing more effective, responsive and evidence-based national security policies and strategies.

The matter was highlighted during an interview with BERNAMA TV through the Apa Khabar Malaysia segment held this morning, which discussed the importance of evidence-based policy approaches, the development of security indices and collaboration between IPSOM and higher education institutions in addressing increasingly complex security challenges.

The interview featured YBrs. SAC Dr. Shazrin Azlin Ruslan, Deputy Chief Executive of the Research (Security) and Publications Centre, IPSOM, and YBrs. Prof. Dr. Yarina Ahmad, Principal Researcher at the Institute of Leadership and Development, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
