KUALA LUMPUR, 21 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Three Malaysian companies have emerged as the top winners of Ecothon Malaysia 2026 Demo Day, earning recognition for green innovations and sustainable business solutions with potential for wider market development.
Eco Terra Sdn. Bhd. secured first place, followed by Eco Rekaffee Sdn. Bhd. in second place and Carbon Next Sdn. Bhd. in third.
Held at Hotel Concorde, Kuala Lumpur, on 15 September, the Demo Day brought together 30 participants from 14 teams to present sustainability-focused ideas and solutions before a panel of judges.
The teams showcased green solutions aimed at addressing environmental challenges while creating opportunities in entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable business.

The Demo Day marked the culmination of a development process that included coaching, mentoring and pitching preparation to strengthen participants’ business models, strategies and ability to present their ideas to stakeholders and potential investors.
Ecothon is an annual competition organised by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with the ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC), with sponsorship from the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF).
Malaysia has participated in Ecothon since 2022 through the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), with the Centre for Entrepreneur Development and Research (CEDAR) serving as the implementing agency.
The programme is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, encouraging ideas that promote efficient resource use, waste reduction and more environmentally friendly products and services.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Ecothon aims to encourage more local entrepreneurs and startups to develop innovative solutions that contribute to environmental, social and economic sustainability. – The Capital Post
