KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): Malaysia had administered a total of 45.01 million Covid-19 vaccine doses as of Wednesday (Oct 6), based on the latest data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

For the day itself, 209,907 shots were delivered nationwide, marking the sixth straight day the daily figure stayed below the 300,000 mark and a decline from the previous day’s 224,034 jabs.

According to the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) COVIDNOW website, of the total doses administered on Wednesday, 113,441 were first shots, while the remaining 96,466 were second jabs.

Johor led with the most first doses administered with 27,137 shots, followed by Selangor (19,767), Perak (13,308) and Kuala Lumpur (8,366).

As for second doses, Johor also topped the list with 17,786 jabs, followed by Sabah (16,464), Perak (14,949) and Kedah (11,005).

As of Wednesday, a total of 24,200,366 individuals or 74.1% of the nation’s population had received at least their first shot, including 20,915,720 recipients or 64% who had been fully inoculated with both doses.

As for the adult population, 94.6% had received at least their first jab, including 88.8% who were fully vaccinated.

Within the Klang Valley, 7,458,418 people or 88.6% of its population had received at least their first dose so far, including 6,902,763 persons or 82% who had completed their two-dose vaccination.

The country’s new Covid-19 cases climbed for the second consecutive day to 9,380 on Wednesday, up 6.38% from 8,817 infections recorded the day before. Nevertheless, it was the fourth straight day the daily figure came in below the 10,000 mark.

Of the new cases, only 181 infections or 1.9% were serious cases involving those in Categories 3 (patients with pneumonia), 4 (patients with pneumonia requiring oxygen therapy) and 5 (critical patients requiring assisted ventilation).

Meanwhile, 9,199 infections or 98.1% were those who showed no symptoms or mild symptoms (Categories 1 and 2).
