BUENOS AIRES, Feb 20 — Argentina’s lower house of Congress has approved a controversial labor reform bill supported by libertarian President Javier Milei, despite strong opposition from labor unions that organized a nationwide strike disrupting parts of the country.
The bill, which had already been passed by the Senate last week, secured 135 votes in favor and 115 against in the Chamber of Deputies during an early Friday session.
Following amendments introduced in the lower house, the legislation will now return to the Senate for a final vote before it can be enacted into law.

The reform package has sparked significant backlash from unions, which argue that the proposed changes undermine workers’ rights and protections.
