NEW YORK, 2 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to global counter-terrorism efforts through the active participation of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) at the Fourth United Nations High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism held at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The Malaysian delegation was led by Deputy Secretary-General (Security) of KDN, Dato’ Hj. Abdul Halim Hj. Abdul Rahman, who delivered Malaysia’s official intervention during Session III, The Global Terrorism Threat Landscape. In his address, he outlined Malaysia’s strategic perspective on evolving global security challenges while highlighting the country’s commitment to an inclusive and progressive security framework in line with the MADANI agenda.
On 1 July, Abdul Halim also delivered Malaysia’s National Statement before the United Nations General Assembly under Agenda Item 118, which focused on the Secretary-General’s report on the Ninth Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. He reaffirmed Malaysia’s unwavering support for multilateral efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism through holistic national strategies and stronger international cooperation founded on justice and lasting peace.

Malaysia further contributed its expertise during Side Event 16, themed “Localized and Whole-of-Society Approaches in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.” KDN’s Secretary of the Public Security and Order Division, Datuk Zulkifli Abidin, and Principal Assistant Secretary Elina Roslim participated as panellists, sharing Malaysia’s experience in youth resilience, community partnerships and social reintegration initiatives.
