KUCHING, 18 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Finance Ministry’s Budget 2027 roadshow in Sarawak has reviewed key development and public service needs as part of preparations for next year’s federal budget.
The programme began on Thursday (17 September) with a visit to the redevelopment site of the dilapidated SK Serumbu school in Bau district to assess the project’s latest implementation status.
The delegation was led by Treasury Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) YBhg. Dato’ Zamzuri bin Abdul Aziz, together with representatives from the Malaysian Treasury Sarawak, Public Works Department, Education Department, the school and the Budget 2027 team.
The delegation later visited the Kuching Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), where it was briefed on staffing and facility requirements as well as initiatives that could strengthen the centre’s role in delivering public services.
Officials also inspected service agency areas and received direct feedback from personnel working at the centre.

The programme continued with an engagement session with Sarawak State Secretary YB Datuk Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, joined by representatives from the State Economic Planning Unit.
Discussions focused on proposed Budget 2027 initiatives that could be implemented in the near term and deliver a direct and meaningful impact to the public.
