KUALA LUMPUR, 14 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — The defence team in Lim Guan Eng’s corruption trial raised concerns over allegedly missing evidence and investigation documents during proceedings at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today.

According to information shared on the official Facebook page of the Democratic Action Party, the court proceedings involved the examination of the prosecution’s final witness, investigating officer Zulhilmi Ramli, by defence counsels Haijan Omar, RSN Rayer, Ramkarpal Singh, Tiara Katrina Fuad and Asyraf Abu Bakar.

During cross-examination, the defence questioned the handling of previous investigation papers related to the Penang undersea tunnel and road project, including a “No Further Action” memo that allegedly cleared Lim of wrongdoing.

The investigating officer confirmed that such a memo existed but said he did not know who issued it or why the earlier investigation was halted.

The defence also highlighted that several earlier investigation papers prepared by previous investigating officers were reportedly filed and stored, while the current investigating officer stated he did not have access to them.

Questions were also raised regarding the disclosure of WhatsApp conversations between key witnesses Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli and G Gnanaraja, with the defence claiming only part of the conversations had been handed over.

The investigating officer acknowledged that providing the full conversations would offer complete context to the discussions. The hearing was later adjourned to June 4. – The Capital Post
