JAKARTA, 5 March 2026 (The Capital Post)— Indonesia has reaffirmed its willingness to mediate in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, stressing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions in the Middle East.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said the government remains ready to act as a “bridge” between the parties involved if all sides agree to mediation. The proposal was conveyed during a phone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi earlier this week.

The mediation offer follows escalating hostilities after military strikes involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which have raised concerns about regional stability and global security.

Sugiono emphasised that Indonesia is prepared to play a constructive role in encouraging negotiations and preventing further loss of lives, urging all sides to exercise restraint and pursue peaceful solutions.
