KDN Reviews Rural Duty Incentive Rates for 2026-2028

PUTRAJAYA, 19 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is reviewing the rates and classification of its Location and Hardship-Based Incentive Payment (BIMLTK) for officers and personnel serving in rural areas.

KDN Secretary-General YBhg. Datuk Dr. Awang Alik bin Jeman chaired the BIMLTK 2026-2028 Main Committee meeting held on 18 August.

The government-approved incentive provides monthly payments ranging from RM500 to RM1,500, depending on the category of the rural location.

The incentive covers personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM), National Registration Department (JPN), Malaysia Civil Defence Force (RELA) and Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).

The meeting focused on ensuring that the incentive rates and classification of rural locations remain relevant in line with current development conditions surrounding the facilities concerned.

Also present were Deputy Secretary-General (Management) YBrs. Puan Ainah binti Mohd Soon; Human Resource Management Division Secretary YBrs. Puan Norazlin binti Alias; Finance Division Secretary YBrs. Encik Wan Saifulikhmal bin Wan Abdul Rahman; as well as representatives from the Development Division and Human Resource Management Division.

Strategic partners from the Public Service Department (JPA), Ministry of Finance (MOF), Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) and Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) were also invited to share input on the implementation of BIMLTK.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the meeting forms part of efforts to ensure the implementation of BIMLTK remains aligned with the current needs and conditions of rural areas. – The Capital Post
