BEIJING, 23 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and China have strengthened bilateral transport cooperation through new agreements covering land and rail transport, maritime, aviation, logistics, technology and green transportation.
Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook held a bilateral meeting with China’s Transport Minister Liu Wei during his official visit to Beijing, where the two sides witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Malaysia-China Transport Cooperation.
The MoU establishes a framework to expand strategic cooperation across land and rail transport, maritime, aviation and logistics, while also extending collaboration into technology and artificial intelligence (AI), green transportation and low-carbon infrastructure.
The cooperation will also promote exchanges of technical expertise and capacity development, supporting Malaysia’s efforts to improve supply chain efficiency, attract technology-driven investment and strengthen its position as a regional transport hub in ASEAN.
During the visit, Loke also witnessed the signing of an MoU on civil aviation safety cooperation between the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The agreement covers areas including airworthiness, aviation organisation certification, personnel licensing and operational oversight, as well as cooperation related to compliance findings and certification.
The cooperation is expected to strengthen civil aviation safety standards, reduce duplication in technical processes and facilitate the movement of aeronautical products and services between Malaysia and China.
Loke also paid a courtesy call on National Railway Administration of China Administrator Song Xiude, where discussions focused on railway development and regulation, operational safety, capacity building and the adoption of technology.
