MOSTI Reviews Development Projects at Chemistry Department’s Bintulu Branch

BINTULU, Sarawak, 11 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of development projects through a working visit to the Chemistry Department Malaysia’s Bintulu branch in Sarawak.

MOSTI Secretary-General Dato’ Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu conducted the site visit to assess the progress of ongoing development projects and gain a comprehensive overview of current implementation efforts at the facility.

According to a Facebook post by Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi, the programme also included an engagement session with officers and staff of the Chemistry Department Malaysia’s Bintulu branch to discuss operational matters and development needs.

Among the key projects reviewed was the construction of new residential quarters for officers and staff. The development is expected to provide more comfortable, safe and conducive living facilities, contributing to the well-being of civil servants while enhancing the department’s service delivery capabilities.

MOSTI said the ministry remains committed to closely monitoring the implementation of development projects to ensure government allocations deliver optimum value and meaningful impact in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.

Also present during the visit were Chemistry Department Malaysia Director-General ChM Marhayani Md. Saad, Development Division Secretary Mohd Zulhasmi Jamaludin, representatives from the Sarawak State Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) under the Prime Minister’s Department, officials from the Public Works Department (JKR) Bintulu, and staff of the Chemistry Department Malaysia.

The visit reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific and technical institutions while ensuring that infrastructure development supports efficient public service delivery and workforce well-being. – The Capital Post
