PERLIS 3 August 2026, (The Capital Post) – The Northern Craft Festival (FKU) 2026 has officially opened with a vibrant showcase of Malaysian craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and creative innovation through the Mesra Tour Session held at the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation Perlis Branch.
The event was attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, who accompanied Marzita Mansor representing the Perlis Chief Minister. The delegation engaged with craft entrepreneurs, observed interactive demonstrations, and explored new craft innovation exhibitions as well as showcases by National Craft Institute Malaysia.
The opening activities were further enlivened by the Perlis Culture Ride, a cycling event involving 151 participants, which was launched by the Perlis Chief Minister. The ride highlighted local traditions through cultural experiences including traditional games and demonstrations of local cuisine at community homestay locations and accommodation sites.

Running for 12 days, FKU 2026 features participation from 72 craft entrepreneurs nationwide alongside 29 Community Skills Development Project (PPKK) initiatives aimed at strengthening local skills and supporting community-based creative industries.
The festival serves as a platform to promote Malaysian handicrafts, empower craft entrepreneurs, and contribute towards the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign by showcasing the country’s rich cultural identity to visitors and communities alike. – The Capital Post
