PETALING JAYA 27 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) paid tribute to Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay in conjunction with his retirement through the Mes “Dining Out” Night held at Sunway Resort Hotel, Bandar Sunway.
The event was attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) cum President of the PDRM Officers’ Mess, IG Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Hj. Mohd Khalid Hj. Ismail, together with his wife, Puan Sri Datuk (Dr.) Hjh. Munirah Che Rose, who is also the Chairperson of the Malaysian Police Family Association (PERKEP). The occasion also honoured Tan Sri Ayob Khan and his wife, Puan Sri Dato’ Zalena Mohd Ariffin, in recognition of his distinguished service to the force.
Organised by the PDRM Senior Officers’ Mess, the ceremony carried the theme “Leadership Defined, Legacy Endures” as a tribute to Tan Sri Ayob Khan’s 35 years of dedicated service, highlighting his reputation as a principled, courageous and integrity-driven leader in safeguarding national security.
In his speech, IG Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Hj. Mohd Khalid described Tan Sri Ayob Khan as a firm and outspoken leader who consistently upheld the rule of law while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism regardless of rank or status.
He said the chosen theme reflected the importance of leadership values in shaping a respected leader, while the principles, contributions and dedication left behind would continue to serve as an inspiration for future generations of PDRM personnel.

Meanwhile, Tan Sri Ayob Khan, in his response, advised members of the force to remain focused on their responsibilities towards society rather than being overly concerned about positions and hierarchy.
He emphasised that the public does not judge police officers based on the number of stars on their shoulders, but rather by how fairly they carry out their duties and serve the community.
The ceremony also featured a special video presentation highlighting Tan Sri Ayob Khan’s career journey and contributions throughout his 35 years of service, alongside the presentation of commemorative gifts as a symbol of appreciation for his sacrifices, dedication and commitment to PDRM.
Also present were Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police cum Director of Special Branch, Dato’ Sri Ibrahim Darus, together with his wife Datin Sri Zanilatul Kamariah Zakaria, senior PDRM directors and deputy directors, Police Commissioners of Sabah and Sarawak, state police chiefs, as well as PDRM retirees. – The Capital Post
