KYIV (The Capital Post) — A Russian drone strike damaged a foreign cargo vessel near a Ukrainian Black Sea port, authorities said, in the latest incident highlighting risks to commercial shipping in the region.
Ukraine’s Sea Ports Authority reported that the drone struck a civilian ship flying the Panama flag that was transporting corn near the port of Chornomorsk in the Odesa region.
The vessel sustained damage during the attack, and several crew members were reportedly injured and later received medical assistance. However, officials did not immediately disclose the number of casualties.
The strike occurred as the ship was operating near the Black Sea port, a key hub for Ukraine’s agricultural exports, particularly grain shipments that are vital to global food supplies.
