KKR, JKR Sabah Push Faster Completion of Pan Borneo Sabah Project

KOTA KINABALU, 22 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Malaysia’s Ministry of Works (KKR) and the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR Sabah) continue strengthening efforts to accelerate the implementation of the Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) Sabah project to ensure the comfort and safety of road users.

KKR Secretary-General Dato’ Seri Azman Ibrahim chaired the 5th Sabah Pan Borneo Highway Project Implementation Steering Committee Meeting for 2026 together with Sabah Works Ministry Permanent Secretary Datuk Ridzwan Roger Linus.

During the meeting, Azman stressed the need for immediate action on-site, particularly involving utility relocation issues, delayed work packages and problematic projects that directly affect road users.

He also called on all parties involved to demonstrate full commitment in expediting issue resolution at project sites, including utility relocation and coordination efforts among relevant agencies.

All Site Officer Representatives (SOR) involved in the project were instructed to closely monitor their respective packages and conduct on-site interventions personally to ensure immediate action is taken.

At the same time, Sabah Works Ministry Permanent Secretary Datuk Ridzwan Roger Linus informed the meeting that Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor had personally visited several project packages, including Package 25, to assess challenges involving land and utility matters.

The meeting was also informed that lighting conditions at project sites need to be improved following complaints and concerns raised by road users.

KKR and JKR Sabah reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation with all agencies and stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of the Pan Borneo Sabah project for the benefit of the rakyat.

The ministry added that the initiative aligns with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI and MYJalan in ensuring sustainable, efficient and high-impact infrastructure development for the country’s long-term prosperity and public well-being.
