The absence of prevailing monsoonal wind flow has allowed local wind effects to play a role in governing our daily weather, it added.

The agency also said that based on its climatological records, the frequency of thunderstorms is high during the inter-monsoon period compared to other months, and the average rainy days for April is 16 and May at 18.

Throughout the period, the country will experience fair weather in the morning and isolated coastal showers around midday, thunderstorms over the inland in the afternoon, spreading and affecting coastal and sea areas at night. It may persist to early morning of the following day.

Light winds will blow from variable directions in the morning and during the night, from northwest in the afternoon, while wave conditions at sea are generally slight.

However, the BDMD noted, the El Niño phenomenon will cause reduction in rainfall in April.

Meanwhile, maximum daily temperatures may reach 34 degrees Celsius or higher during the day. Excessive hot weather (EHW), commonly known as heatwave, is also possible during the period.
