BARCELONA (The Capital Post) — Lenovo has lifted the curtain on a series of bold proof-of-concept devices aimed at redefining the future of personal computing, revealing a modular laptop and a foldable gaming handheld as part of its showcase at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 on Monday.

At the heart of Lenovo’s exhibition are two standout concepts that push beyond conventional design: a ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept that lets users reconfigure screens and ports for dynamic workflows, and the Legion Go Fold Concept, a hybrid gaming device with a display that folds from a compact handheld into a larger screen for gaming or productivity.

Modular Laptop Concept

The ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept introduces a fresh take on laptop flexibility with interchangeable screens, detachable input components and modular I/O ports. The prototype features a 14-inch ultra-thin main unit that can be paired with a secondary detachable touchscreen, which can be magnetically mounted in multiple orientations or used independently as a portable monitor.

Users can also swap out ports — such as HDMI or USB — to tailor the device for specific tasks, while the secondary display can replace the traditional keyboard deck for dual-screen productivity. Though still experimental, this concept points to a future where hybrid form factors could cater to diverse workflows.

Arguably the most striking reveal is the Legion Go Fold Concept, a foldable gaming handheld that blends portable gaming with PC-like versatility. The device’s flexible POLED screen expands from about 7.7 inches in compact mode to roughly 11.6 inches when unfolded, enabling several usage modes — from classic handheld gaming to a broader multimedia or desktop-like experience.

The right detachable controller can double as a vertical mouse, while a companion wireless keyboard with touchpad enables laptop-like use. Lenovo says this concept is designed for users who want to combine gaming and productivity without juggling separate devices.

Concepts Over Products

Both devices remain at the concept stage with no confirmed release dates or pricing, underscoring their role as vision pieces rather than imminent products. Lenovo’s ongoing experimentation with bold hardware designs reflects a broader industry push toward adaptable, modular and immersive computing experiences.

In addition to these prototypes, Lenovo’s MWC 2026 showcase featured other forward-looking ideas — from a glasses-free 3D laptop concept to AI-integrated PCs — illustrating the company’s eagerness to explore how emerging technologies might shape the future of work and play. – The Capital Post
