NANJING, 19 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia is advancing its regional human resource development agenda at APEC, with discussions focused on future skills, technological change and building a more resilient workforce across the Asia-Pacific.
Malaysia participated in the APEC Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG) meeting and related sessions in Nanjing, China, with representatives from the Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA), Economy Ministry and Education Ministry.
Discussions covered workforce readiness for technological and industry changes, future skills development, quality employment and inclusive human capital development.
The meetings also provided a platform for APEC economies to continue coordinating and finalising the Ministerial Joint Statement ahead of the 8th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting (HRDMM), scheduled for 21 September 2026.

The KESUMA delegation was led by Human Resources Policy Branch Deputy Secretary Encik Cheah Hock Kooi, while Malaysia’s delegation to the HRDWG was headed by Encik Che Rahim bin Daud of the Economy Ministry.
