MOTAC Hosts UniKL-MICET Delegation to Strengthen Tourism Policy Understanding

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) welcomed a delegation from Universiti Kuala Lumpur – Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL-MICET) during an academic visit programme held at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC), Kuala Lumpur.

The programme aimed to provide students with greater exposure to national tourism policies, strategic planning and the implementation of tourism-related initiatives.

The session began with an opening address by MOTAC Corporate Communications Unit Head Firna Azura Ekaputri Marzuki, who highlighted the importance of exposing students to how government policies are translated into practical implementation while encouraging participants to better understand the challenges and professional management approaches within the tourism industry.

Among the key highlights of the programme was a corporate presentation delivered by Hazman Salamy Abdul Halim from MOTAC’s Corporate Communications Unit, who provided an overview of the ministry’s functions as well as the latest developments surrounding the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

The delegation also attended a briefing on the National Tourism Policy (DPN) 2020-2030 presented by Senior Assistant Secretary of MOTAC’s Strategic Planning and Policy Unit, Meera Devi Daran.

The session covered several important areas including tourism value chains, tourism industry performance, transformation and ecotourism strategies, as well as the strategic direction of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

Participants were also introduced to tourism industry statistics, including the 2024 tourism composition involving inbound and outbound tourism contributions as well as key contributors to the tourism industry’s gross value added.

As part of the programme, the delegation was also brought to experience a cultural performance showcasing Malaysia’s rich arts and cultural heritage.

According to MOTAC, the programme reflects the ministry’s continued commitment to supporting educational institutions through knowledge-sharing initiatives while preparing future generations with a clearer understanding of the nation’s strategic direction in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration.
